Pre-L00t post

We approach the time when the greatest number of small green pieces of paper are moved around, in an attempt to make people happy. Actually, Doug got it wrong, we mostly move electrons which are perfectly happy where they are, but because of arbitrary and capricious decisions on our part, they are forced to wander around, occasionally being interpreted into visible waves which flow through tiny glass tubes to be remade into pushed around electrons who eventually settle down as little tiny variances of magnetic fields on whirling pieces of metal.

Hardly seems reasonable, does it?

Anyway, entirely from a desire to show off my good taste, and seriously not from any interest in having y'all people be involved in this (this is what Family's for), here is my primary seasonal loot checklist: wishlist

Not offered by Amazon, but desired as well, is the several hundred dollars in fencing gear jazz007 and I have been poring over. I went to the fencing retailers websites I could find, looked at all the stuff that I need at some point or another, and have roughly decided it's freaking expensive to be a fencer outfitted on your own dime. I now have a much better understanding of the whole feudal system and getting other people to pay for your wargear.

Now for the other part. I give stuff around now as well to family, and that requires some thought. My dad's family does a Secret Santa system, while my mom's is P2P. So I've got a teenage cousin in New Zealand getting something, and then my grandpa and mom's 2 sisters and brother. I'm thinking books, but having already done Curse of Chalion and Paladin of Souls, I'm a little lost for this year.

Edit: I knew there was something I was forgetting. I need a new hard drive and battery for my laptop. That was it.
