Mustard! (Sorry, free associating)

Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to pewtergryphon. I meant to call you, but the terrible cell phone coverage out here foiled me. :-(

Tuesday we suffered a brief, severe thunderstorm. I was happily conversing online, listening to the thunder and rain, when suddenly the lightening struck very close. I felt a shock from my laptop, and tossed it down the bed, away from me. At this very instant, the power was lost, and so my laptop, being batteryless, was no more use at the moment anyway. This was a little past noon, and power was restored at 8:30pm.
Dinner was potatoes baked in the fireplace.

We then discovered that our DSL modem was damaged, as was our phone. The line was ok, but both end components needed replacing. The modem arrived yesterday (Thursday that is) and I got everything working again on Friday. (Phone is now a fax machine on loan from grandpa)

Anyway, I spent all of Friday almost catching up on LJ, email, and chatting. That is, from 10am to 4pm.

Can't quite recall what else I knew I intended to say, so I'll just stop now.
