leaped into competence

Responsible adult strikes again

So about two weeks ago I was feeling pretty down about the whole "being a responsible adult" thing. The truck's title wasn't mine, the inspection was due, my budget was purely imaginary.

Since then I've transferred the title, renewed my insurance and made several changes that I think are good ideas to that. Inspection is completed, and a new pair of tires bought, which brings them all under warranty. I had worried that at 120,000 miles I needed to replace the timing belt, but it turns out Nissans have a timing chain instead which doesn't need to be fiddled with unless it is causing problems. So there's $800 or so I was afraid I'd have to spend that can go towards debt instead, eventually.

I still need to see about setting up an IRA with somebody (I'll probably go with my credit union, just to simplify) to roll my 401(k) over to when it goes away in January. Since just about all my investments are in index funds, I don't think it'll matter too much which ones I have.

Also on the to-do list is doing my annual enrollment for health insurance, but with only one choice for everything that'll be pretty simple.

Finally, loosely associated with jazz007 finding a new Realtor who has turned up a lot of nice looking places we need to check out, I looked up safe deposit box prices and have decided to get one. 3x5x22 is $15/year, and I'm sure that's all I'll need for now.
