Why I read them, & etc

I knew the Economist could cover Janet in an entertaining way.

I have the books these are from, and I'm amazed I didn't remember them till now. But here's what Doonesbury used to say about John Kerry
Oct. 21-23, 1971

I found a Book Database program, named Books. It's a very nice cocoa program, and I only regret that 1) I seem to have fux0red my PC trying to get the QueCat to work as a scanner, and 2) a lot of data it has fields for and I'd like are not automagically grabbed from Amazon. :-(

I added 232 books in my first swoop, all but two of which came from my paperback shelves over the desk. I don't want to have to go back through all of them and add page count, set them to "Finished", etc. There's also 18 which did not go through, one because it's the Roc free samples booklet from TorCon, and of the rest:
1) My OotP copy is from Canada, and apparently the programmer hasn't set it to grab data from Amazon.ca, so I'll request that feature.
2) Three or so had ISBNs that Amazon doesn't seem to have, I suppose. Bit of a shame. (Edit: Ok, Blackcollar is listed as a reissue under a different ISBN.
3) The rest are literally so old they don't give their ISBNs, from the early 60s to the late 70s.

I wonder if I can get something to calculate the average age of these books... It's probably something like 15 years.
